Crank gear questions

Hey guys. I got my water pump on alright, and I'm working on getting the crank gear on, but I have a quick question. Is there supposed to be _any_ space between the two front gears on the crank? Right now the bolt is almost tensioned down completely and I can feel maybe 3/16" of space between the teeth on the back gear and the back of the front gear. It seems a little off.

Hmm.. Here is a parts picture. I had the impression there was a spacer in there. Then maybe not.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

I think it's okay. #15 in your diagram has a groove in it that stops it from going in too far, so it's where it should be. It kindof seats itself there.

She's all back together, except for the balance belt. I have to leave the balance belt off until I can get/find a new nut for the tension roller -- I accidentally stripped one.

Bryan,

The nut is an M-10 lock nut. You should be able to get one at a hardware store. However, a plain old regular nut will not be suffucuent for what you are doing.
