Red face gas cap

I have a very fustrating issue. I can not open the gas cap on my 944. Tried 2 keys and nothing. Worked the other day but not now. It is so silly but.....
Any suggestions.
How can I remove the cap without the key. I can replace the cap ( I have a spare)
feeling stupid today

Dont try this untill someone else responds but I have been told that you can ream locks out with a drill. Then use a screwdriver to turn the lock.

If I can get it open sat I will have no choice but to drill it out. Locking in the future is not going to happen. Never had a problem on any of the 944 I have had. 1st time.
My issue with drilling is the fact it is the "gas" cap. Afraid of drill heat sparking a fire. Also worried about stuff falling in the gas tank. This just sucks.

If you had to drill it out, couldn't you disconnect the fuel line @ the fuel filter and flush the tank as insurance against metal shavings?

just a thought. dunno how goofy that sounds.

Just pop off the red plastic top. You can remove the locking pawl and all. Then twist the metal barrel out by hand.

Use a gas cap popper!!!

Actually you could do it with your fingers but a large screwdriver wrapped in a shop rag would be my first approach.
