transaxle oil leak curse

How can it be? The transaxle was leaking, definitely NOT from the axle seals, more like from the top. So out it came. There was a little oil in the front seal area, so that was replaced. Upon cleaning the outside it became apparent that the case had a crack on the bottom, though it didn't seem to leak thru the crack. Case got TIG welded. Finally, at the top rear was an empty threaded hole where a spring detent should be. Tracked that down with the kind help of a list member.

With much huffing & puffing the trans goes back in and still leaks as much as before! Still seems to be coming out around the rear, near the top. Any ideas where in the hell the leak could be?

PS: the breather cap is there.

Thanks

How much fluid are you putting in??? IF you are overfilling it will leak everywhere. Only fill it until it comes out the fill hole. Also can you take some pics of the tran and the leak?

Did you try JB Weld? This works for everything.

I'm refilling it properly, letting it run out the filler hole.

The crack was TIG welded, no need for JB Weld. So far, I can't tell where it's leaking from, just seems to be towards the rear at the top.

Thanks,

Maybe another little bolt or plug missing? Maybe the seal between the iron and the aluminum is bad? If you need anything else just let me know, I have about ten parts trannys.
