Smoking on Decellaration
I have a Problem with an 86 951 that is smoking when you let of the gas at higher RPMs (4500 and up).
I checked the Intercooler Pipes and they had a mixture of Oil and Water in them , so i replaced the Turbo (bad internal seals). Everything is dry now but it still smokes when you let of the Gas at high RPMs. It does fine if you keep the RPM lower. Is there an easy way to check if the Valveguides are worn ? The car has about 127000 miles on it and runs fine . Any other ideas ?

Definitely sounds like valve stem seals........ SUcking in the oil.
You can do leak down to diagnose.

could be the valve stem seals, but id sure like to see those comression numbers.
Reason I ask, is that a 951 I had before had those same symptoms, turned out #3 was scored and had 90psi on the gauge. At High RPMs it was leaking from the crankcase vent and sucking the oil through the turbo. Not trying to scare you or anything...but id get on that test. Its just a little time consuming. Wont cost you a thing really.

I was thinking rings or scoring or both. Smoking on aggressive high rpm acceleration is a sign of valve guides.
