The truth about dash covers
Everything I have heard is negative but I did see one that looked very very good. Infact at first glance I disdnt notice it and wouldnt have unless the owner pointed it out. He attributed it the prep work that went into it but had no real knowledge (the PO did it).
So the question is ; If the cracks in the dash are minimal and havent separated significantly would a coverlay work? I have seen dashes where the cracks were on a grand canyon scale, Is this where the negatiove reviews have been coming from? Newly purchased 1988 944S! |

I have had 2 Coverlay caps and they do not stay on well. They warp from the heat and the method they give to install with the silicone provided is the pits. I am now going to use formica glue on both entire surfaces and lay the cap over some wax parchment paper then set the cap on in place and remove the paper and the 2 pieces will adhere forever. It will be glued down so tight it can't warp. It is a difficult cap to fit flat enough for the adhesives to get a good hold so I have trimmed it to fit tightly on top the dash. Once the glue is applied and cured the cap goes on and will never come off.
