944 A/C Bypass
I have an '84 944 that has a bad A/C compressor and was wondering if anyone out there knew of an inexpensive way to bypass the A/C. I have seen the brackets for sale but they are out of my budget at this time, and the noise from this thing makes it a bit embarassing to drive....

First of all make sure it is actually the compressor is noisy..with the AC switched off, it can only be the clutch/pulley bearing as the compressor itself does not rotate until the clutch is switched on by you.
Find an old parts car 944, pull off the compressor and use either the whole compressor or just the clutch/pulley assembly. You don't need to connect any hoses or electrics up. Or take your compressor off, go to an AC shop and get them to repair the existing pulley.
