uk mags.
while i was in scotland, i bought quite a few magazines. no doubt a few of you already have read porsche 911 mag, and have the supplement that deals with the majority of models. good write up on 944 series, and goes thru what to look for, as regards
engine/bodywork/trim etc. anyways, browsing yet another car mag, i'm reading that the mitsu evo {uk model} has 405 bhp on tap, and can run 0-60mph in 3.5 secs. as if that isnt mean enough, in the same rag, i read about a company called "ariel" that makes a small, 2 seater car, called the "atom" i think its powered by either a 1.6litre, or 1.8 litre turbocharged engine, and has been timed 0-60mph in just 2.8 secs!!! bejesus, thats cbr900 country. anyone from uk, have any additional info on this car/company. seem to remember ariel made m/cycles a along time ago. anyhoo, may edition 911, and porsche world. the supplement has a great write up on 944, and in particular, all the 911 models from early to late. bob.

Just to fill in some blanks.
In the UK the base model Mitsubishi EVO has only 260 bhp but partly thanks to the tunning industry and pressure from enthusiasts Mitsubishi have comisioned limited run, high power variants of the EVO. The absolute top model is the EVO FQ 400 which does push out 400 bhp but is hampered by 5000 mile service intervals and iffy relliability. Brief over view of the FQ 400 http://www.carpages.co.uk/mitsubishi/mitsubishi_lancer_evolution_viii_mr_fq-400_27_10_04.asp The Aerial Atom is just one example of the UK's specialist car industry. Volume production seems to be a thing of the past in Britian but limited runs of small light weight sports cars are something we are still good at. Here's a review of the Atom http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/roadtests/ArielAtom2.htm Aerial motor company site. http://www.arielmotor.co.uk/ Top Gear Aerial video. http://www.openwheelers.com.au/videos/Top_Gear_Ariel_Atom_2_Full_segment.mpg Unfotunately if you fancy one of these vehicles, both the FQ and the Atom are only really type approved for the UK and possibly some less strict European countrys. thanks for the info. i seem to remember the aerial name associated with m/cycles, but this is obviously a new company. i just cant believe how fast that thing is, off the line. no doubt it would blow away all the "muscle" cars over here, off the line. not too shabby for around 20 grand, and its powered by a honda too !! no "hemi" here.
regards, bob.
