1 year in the making (pics)......

Hey everyone,
I just want to thank everyone here for sharing the wealth of wisdom through my (very) long project......I've been working on my car for a year now....coincidentally, i bought it on my birthday and tomorrow's my birthday......weird.....anyways, bought it for $1,900 and everything in and out was crap......and i knew nothing about the car......then i did some homework......my main problem was oil in my coolant, so i tore the engine apart and began the very, very slow process of bringing back the glory the car once had........of course during this time, I'm going to school and work (still am).........i replaced everything in the engine that needed to be and did some work on the interior, I actually re upholstered those seats my self with soft vinyl - only $50, and got a new front end. Then topped it off with a new paint job.......No mods to the engine, and nothing fancy, just want to make sure everything is restored and cleaned up before i even think about getting crazy

so for all my fellow enthusiasts undertaking your own project, your time will come, and all that work "should" pay off

hey thanks guys

ae1969- yah, I had my doubts at times trying to tackle the project but you guys were great in helping me find my direction.....

nkn84944- th bumper took a little more work than i thought i would need...had to be pretty creative...it only came with two mounting units that replaced the front bumper shocks and used the same bolts to be mounted. I also had to drill some holes to be able to bolt it to the side fenders. And had to come up with a way to connect the bumper to the mounting units......I used a couple long bolts for that...... Then i reinforced everything with a good amount of 150 lb zip ties
And if you ever plan on doing this, i'll definitely offer any help you need

rammstein- The color is actually a GM color....it was on a limited number of Hummer H2's and it's called Sunset Orange Metallic or Sunset Orange Effect, tha paint code is 633H

nathan944 - well, being that I am a poor college student who happens to like 944's, i decided to go for a decent paint job until i would have the money for a "real" one a couple years down the road......so i shopped around some local paint shops, and found 1 Day Paint......for $650 they could match any color i wanted using a urethane based paint-very durable- but unlike the maaco and earl scheib shops, this one sprayed a base primer/sealer before the main coat......so i did my part and stripped and sanded my old paint down, and removed all trimming that i could - bumper guards, emblems, vinyl rock guards, etc.......by the way, that aircraft paint stripper works really, really great.........and let the shop take care of the rest.............now, the stock color was burgundy, so i didn't care too much about the door jams and engine bay...........everything came with a 5 year non-pro rated warranty, and three cans of touch up paint too!!!

But definitely down the road, i will get it painted the right way

springs were about 200$, they lowered the front about 1 inch.
