Well as you guys remember, my 85.5 was totalled last month. So here is the replacement. It's a '89 944 with 130K on it.
![]() The gold car is my totaled '85.5. ![]() ![]() ![]() The option list is as follows: 160 - Blaupunkt Charleston SQR 26 (still in the car and works) 164 - 215/60 VR15 tires 454 - auto speed control 474 - sport shocks (Koni golds appear to be original) 533 - alarm system 573 - air conditioning 593 - Bosch ABS system 650 - removable sun roof 946 - front seats, leather/leather/leatherette I have to say I am very pleased with it most of the problems are minor like the LCD clock crxtle is bleeding or the arm rest door henge is busted. I will not go into how much I paid, but it was a very good deal.

Hot. Congratulations on the new Porsche.
Any driving impressions between the 2.5L and the 2.7?

Another 89! Woohoo!
I too would be interested to hear your impressions of the 2.7 versus the 2.5....the only 2.5 I have ever driven was in a 924S, not quite as much of a direct comparison.

Even so it is there for protection not because it looks good. I am sure you have seen many 944's that look like their front ends were sandblasted. That is Porsche bra, and it fits pretty well. Driving Impressions of the 2.5L vs. 2.7L . . . . The main difference is in the mid-range torque you have with 2.7. Basically it pulls harder out of the curves and up a grade. It doesn't feel any faster than a chipped 2.5L though. I think in general this is how all ROW 944's felt in previous years. But it is odd how the ROW 2.5L cars claimed 163hp DIN. Some how I suspect the factory claimed 162hp DIN is probably very close to actual SAE, with a portion part of it under it's torque curve. In general it's road manners feel like any other N/A I have driven. Although this car seems happy to cruse at a slower speed (60 mph), where as my 85.5 wasn't happy until I was pressing 70 mph. I know that driving both my 84 and 85.5, I was always having to add throttle to maintain a 60 mph cruising over hills on the Interstate. So really I would have to say that the improvements are subtle. The car's breaks are excellent, the ABS me pull it down from speed real fast. The Koni sports are nice even driving around town, not harsh at all like the set of Bilstein HD's I had on my 84 (which never felt good until I was doing over 55mph). The dated 215/60 VR15 Michelins leave a lot to be desired. They are comfortable, quiet and should be good for another 20K miles. But really 15" tires are only good for autocross use and then only if it's in 225/45 ZR15 Hoosier's. I'm looking at a set of 16's for the time being, well until I can afford some 18" Boxster S rims.
