Source for Piston Set
Engine tear down reveals seized piston rings - anyone got a source on a set of used, serviceable pistons, or new (piston, pin, ring set combo). Checked classifieds - no luck.
Thanks for any info, Scott 1984 944 na |
99% sure you'll end up boring out, and using over-sized pistons. If the rings have siezed, you've done some cylinder damage.
As for that, I got mine from a user named Ski over on rennlist. Pretty reasonably priced. |
A Rennlist member, Hussam Jamil from the United Arab Emirates, has a local mechanic that has many original new pistons for our cars and he is selling them for cheap, like $600 for a set of 4. Apparently the guy set up shop in the UAE about 4 years ago and brought all these parts. He hasn't moved many of the pistons so that is why he will let them go for $600.
So contact Hussam and see what he can set up for you. |
Zero, the cylinders visually appear to be in great shape although my machinist will need to measure. IceShark, thanks I'll try to look up Hussam. The best I've found is PAP Auto for $200 each. I would have to seek another plan if the block is bad given the costs associated with oversized pistons, etc.

I have a good set out of my '83 complete with forged rods that I'll sell you.

Pistons are in NOVA too so I can probably save you time on shipping them.

Maybe AznDrgn can help you out but if you end up needing Hussam's e-mail address, I have it as I've sold some parts to him. |
