Porsche drops in oil pressure and runs very warm

Ok When my porsche ran hot and continued to do so i replaced the water pump. Now Im seeing the same temps (just below the red!!!) I notice that the car gets to this temperature very quickly within 5 minutes of running. Also after running for about 10 minutes the oil pressure drops to one and sometimes spikes below 1 and the oil light flashes on and off. Plenty of oil in her. Can someone help me out???

Don't mean to scare you, but it could be your rod bearings going.

Check for metal pieces on the oil drain plug, and possibly in the oil filter.

Good luck,
-Z.

Quick thought I had a loose drain plug and lost about a quart before I realized, I added another 1 & 1/2 so that i was at the 3rd notch. So the oil is mixed could that be my problem, but I checked the dipstick no metal to be seen. No matter a oil change is on the to do list this weekend.

Z, I think my rod bearings might be kicking the bucket. I just started noticing a slight knock and my oil pressure is doing the same as projekt70, although I am not getting the high temperatures.

This may accelerate my want to learn to rebuild a 944 engine... hmm...

bryan - crack open your oil filter - or take it to a shop that has a machine that can do that without introducing metal shavings from the oil filter case itself. Metal pieces in there is a tell-tale sign, as is lower oil pressure and higher temps.

bryan, there are a couple other things that that can cause "knocking". b4 you go tearing the motor down etc, try checking the eng temp sensor, and especially, the air temp sensor in the afm. if they are out of whack, you will notice knocking, more so as the eng warms up.
one check you can do{out of many}is pull on your hand-brake, car in 1st gear, bring revs up to between 1500, and 2000rpm, then let the clutch out slowly, to the point where the back end of the car starts to squat down. listen , or have someone listen to the engine, and now you have loaded up the engine, if your bearings are going, you will hear big-end knock. you cant miss that.
hope its not!
bob.
