Re: Bearing Assembly
Alright, well I somewhat recently made a post regarding a rear end rattling noise coming from right around my transmission... Had it check out, and my mechanic stated that it could be my Bearing Assembly, and also stated that he didn't recommend me driving it too much until I got it fixed. Well, one day, I had class, and had no other car available. Got to class smoothly; however, once I started my car to go home, it seemed to idle strangely. Also, while I had it in drive, once the rpms hit 2500, the whole car shook. (Does this seem to be a bearing assembly issue? Or something else?)
Nevertheless, if it were to be the bearing assembly, I need a quote. How much would it be to rebuild (if it were rebuildable), and also new? (This can be roughly stated...) Note: Had transmission rebuilt and damper plate installed somewhat recently. Note#2: The car in question is an 85 (early) 944 Automatic. Do let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Broken balance shaft belt will shake the heck out of the engine and thus the car. Remove the top part of the belt cover and check it NOW!!! The broken balance belt will also take out the timing belt resulting in lots of bent valves.

Alright, shall do; however, any thoughts regarding the bearing assembly? (As in pricing - so I know when I have enough roughly to take it in.)

Torque converter might have come loose - perimiter bolts. Also the drive shaft will push the TC into the trans if the surclip is left off.
Just check the belts before you drive it again.

Sure thing...I'm not planning on even starting it until after I get it fixed...
Thanks for the info.
