is this car worth the money?
I found a 1987 944 turbo 5 speed with 79000 miles. It has been hit in the right front, needs hood, fender and bumper cover. They are asking $5950, is that about right?

No. With that kind of body damage, they're not on the same page with reality. Besides, what damage you see on the surface is usually a sign of what bad things lurk underneath. I'd pass.
There's plenty other ones floating around the market without the "oh, by the ways". Keep your chin up and continue looking, IMHO.

If it's been hit hard enough to need a hood too, I'd also guess the headlight mechanism would be screwed up, and those are a serious PITA to get aligned and working correctly again.
Just as an example using genuine Porsche parts. ![]() Insurance estimate was $5600 before paint. That was for 1 fender, 1 fender repair(driver's fender was creased from the bumper), airdam, bumper struts, bumper, headlight cover and surround, header panel, and all the front end lights. I'd say that the 951 you are looking at is worth maybe $500 if you do the repairs yourself. It's worth more to part out as a parts car.

Ouch. The hit that car took would be 2nd to the hit your wallet would take for that asking price.

Yeah, way high. I paid 7000 for my 951,an she's near mint, granted it was from a 911 guy who wanted to get rid of her asap, but I would look to pay around 7500-10000 for a great one. Good luck, btw it took me about 3 months to find the right one....

way to much, remember body damage is always much worse and much more expensive than estimated
