Suspension falling apart?!?!
Some of you may remember that I installed an MO30 suspension with 951 control arms, sway bars, big reds, and camber plates. Ever since the installation I have noticed that when the car goes over bumps (small or large) I hear "clunks" in the front end. I have tried and tried to locate the source but so far have been unsuccessful. I have been driving it for awhile and it has become considerably worse. It seems to be really bad if you go over a rough road at low speeds. It sounds like something is rattling around. I have had the car up and have checked sway bars, a-arms, struts, brakes, strut mounts etc and have found seemingly no unusual movement. This is driving me absolutely insane. It was making so much noise at one point I thought that the suspension was going to fall apart! Any thoughts would be very much appreciated

Have you checked your wheel bearings for play? Is the PS rack mounted correctly?

What about ball joints and shock mounts?
Clunking from the rear is usually CV joints, but a non-metallic clunk would lead me to believe something in the spring perches or shocks/struts is messed up.

Tighten up the large nut at the top of the strut. Could also be the mounts that the top of the strut goes through.

As far as ball joints...they are basically brand new. However, the shock mounts to the camber plates and I have always been a little leery about that for they mount with these small little machine screws and nuts. But I have not observed any movement in the mount yet. I will say it has also been a concern of mine that the strut may be shifting around. I noticed that when the strut is unloaded the spring can be shifted slightly by hand (I attributed this to the fact that these are coil-overs). My next action is to tighten up the giant nut on top of the strut....but I do not have a torque spec for the MO30 struts. Anyone out there know?

What ever a half inch impact is. These tend to twist unless you have the dedicated tools to hold the top of the strut. The impact is faster than the turning.
But with loose springs you will be getting a lot of noise from them moving around.

Check the monoballs bearings as well as the camber plate hardware. On some models the bearings take the full weight of the front end, and will wear quickly. Make sure they are not worn and that they are not loose in the housings.
