Air Conditioning Lowers RPM

Hey everyone,

Now that its getting hot down here in florida I am trying to figure out why my A/C is robbing my engine RPM's. When i bought the car, the engine would componsate more power to the engine when the A/C was engaged... however this is not the case anymore. I have installed Wilks powerprom 2... could this be the issue?

The chips shouldn't be the problem. Sounds like you've got a bad idle-stabilizer valve...

yeah the stablizer valve is no good. It should open up when the AC comes on to keep it from stalling..lets more air into the motor.

Also, it could be whatever sends the signal to the IAS to open up is bad. I dont know if the AC Pressure switch does that or something.

UPDATE

Well, i decided to try adjusting the idle today.... after reading that you should jump pin B, to pin C on the diagnostic port, to disable the Idle stabalizer valve. As i was doing this i noticed a vacuum hose that was disconnected... so i reconnected it. I then found another vacuum hose that had become disconnected, and reconnected that as well. The car seems to be fine now. Here are pics of what i reconnected.

.... this hose leads to this (correct me if i am wrong) .........

I had to reattach the line that has that red piece near the end.

Just noticed something while driving tonight. The A/C dial (not the knob that adjusts the fan speed) activates a relay which i can hear. If i turn the knob fully counter clockwise... the car idles just fine, however if i turn it fully clockwise the engine is still bogged down.

Update...

I found this relay in the passenger side footwell. It seems when this relay is activated that my car idles just fine, however it isnt always activated. I tested the relay and it seems to be fine. Does anyone know what causes it to activate?
