awful squeeking sound

After extended driving of my car I start to hear a wierd squeek from the front of the car. This only happens when the engine gets hot. It sounds like the noise is comming from the pullies infront of the timing belt cover. Do I need to oil something of get new pullies?

On my third belt change, the mechanic put in several new rollers. It made a huge difference in the car sonic-ally and performance wise.

When was the last time the timing and balance belts were changed? 30,000 or two years is a good interval. This is when pullies are inspected and replaced.

Could also be the power steering and/or AC belts and pullies.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

The timing belt only has about 8000 miles on it. But the problem isn't the timing belt. Its all the pullies infront of it like the belt that connects the power steering.

"I have a noise at the front of my engine" is a very nebulous statement. Expect a wide range of answers.

As I said in my second statement: Power steering and/or AC.

So your guess is that the bearing in one of the pullies is bad?

What do the front external belts drive? Power steering, alternator and AC compressor.

All three have bearings. Power steering is most commonly a problem followed by the alternator then the AC compressor clutch.

Take the PS belt off and see if the noise stops. If not then it's the alternator/AC.

if the power steering is bad, can i just take off the belt and drive the car without power steering? Would any problems come up?

It's been done before. Not advisable to leave the belt off for any length of time. Testing is ok.
