944s2 cv joint perished

Just doing routine checks on my 944s2 cab and i've found that the passenger side rear driveshaft rubber boot going into the gearbox is completely perished! Can anyone tell me if these boots are specific to the s2 or are they interchangeable on any 924/944 as they look very similar.Secondly to change the boot do i have to remove the whole of the driveshaft or just loosen the affected side?Any advice would be greatly appreciated before i tackle this one.thanks.

They are specific to the S2. It's easier if you take the shaft off the car, that way you have easy access to the cv joint.

Possibly. BUT you still have to remove the axle and the CV joint to put it on. If the boot has been off of the CV joint for any length of time you should replace the CV as well. New ones come with the boot. At least here in the states they do.

The CV boot kit, 951 332 903 00 fits all 944S/S2/T and 968.

You could try 944 331 903 00, which is just the boot from the earlier 944. As far as I can remember it fits. Neither the boot kit or boot is expensive.
Always replace both boots on the axle you are repairing. Torque the fixing bolts too.
And yes, you could go to a spares shop and see if a VW or BMW would fit.
