Question about Fuchs?

How much do a set in good condition typically run? How do you tell if they are replicas?

I've heard 1000+ to upwards of 1500 for used originals in good condition... haven't any info on telling originals from replicas though....

I bought my set of 16" X 7" with almost new tires for $400 from CT. They are the originals and not the fakes. You can tell by the serial numbers on the inside of the rim.

The $400 was cheap. When I was shopping I found them priced between $1000 - $1200 just for the rims.

What's a typical part number?

I have a set of 15" x 7 & 8" Fuchs on my '85.5, and the part numbers (visible on the back) are as follows:

7"= 911.361.020 41 A320.62

8"= 911.361.020 42 A510.62

You can also look for the Fuchs (fox ;-) symbol and other stampings as well to determine if the're real or replicas.

Pricing is all over the board, depending on size and part#.

The cheapest and most abundant are the 15" and 16" (6's and 7's) with the 911 part#s.

They get pricier as you get into the oddball ones, like the 951#'s (16X7 and 16X8 with clearance for big brakes) and the 930 16X9's.

Even pricier are the really rare ones, like the R, RS, and RSR Fuchs.

Real Fuchs have a 911 or 951 part# on the backside of the petal, like others have told you. Honestly, replica fuchs are good wheels too. They are a little heavier, and a little more brittle if you whack a curb, but otherwise they aren't bad. All Fuchs are old (last year for them was 1989), so one should be periodically inspecting their wheels anyway.

Thanks for all the info.
