abnormal
i took my 944 to a european mechanics store today and asked them about my downshifting problem in my automatic 84'. They said that my car is not shifting normally, and he said something about a "vacuum" hose? or something that needs to be fixed, or the linkage cable. but he said he does not work on automatic 944's anymore. Do you guys know what this vacuum thing is? and how hard it would be to replace/fix/find? Another problem (along with not downshifting), is even when i open the throttle all the way off the line, 1st gear always shifts at around 3k. none of them go near redline...so any help would be appreciated thanks!

First gear will shift around 3k... That doesnt sound too abnormal.
I started to attempt to explain the vaccuum tubing for a sec, but it is first thing in the a.m. before my morning coffee and id prolly be nonsensical. A leak or missing piece will cause the car to run or idle rough, but i'm not sure if it would affect the feel from the tranny.
