new daily driver

Yesterday I finished my move to Lincoln, and should be living there permanently starting July 2nd. I also went car shopping... The car I decided on is a 2001 Dodge Stratus 4-door. I was just looking for a reasonably nice daily-driver / interstate car to drive now that I'll be living in town.

I'm keeping the 944, but it's going to be garaged for awhile. I have a lot of work I want to do that wouldn't be possible if I keep driving it. I love the 944, and won't ever get rid of it... at least not willingly.

It's a weird feeling... the stratus doesn't have a saratoga top to leak, there's no wind noise, no gas smell, it's not bumpy, and I don't worry about breaking something when I drive. It seems like (lately) whenever I drive the 944 I'm sitting there analyzing EVERY noise, just wondering what is going to break next. Driving this is kindof a relief. Oh yeah, and my girlfriend rides in the Stratus and doesn't complain about it being too hot, too windy, etc.. Those are all the little quirks that I love about the 944, but... I suppose it's time to be reasonable for once.

Wish me luck and whatnot

Nice choice!!!

I understand the feeling of relief. Going from my 944 to my 951 was like that. And now having my Audi is like a dream. Ice cold AC, very comfortable, quiet, and easy to drive!!

After this weekend I'm ready to get rid of my 944. It seems everytime I start working on something, something else breaks. I've had the car for 4 months, spent $1600 in parts, and have only driven it for about 2 months.
This weekend I did an oil change and replaced the o-rings on the A/C compressor. While charging the A/C I start hearing a whining noise and it starts overheating. The water pump froze. I had to drive my track car(85 Carrera) to work. I wonder how many of my neighbors I woke up at 5:30 this morning.
I bought this car in order to take my track off the road and I haven't had enough confidence to do so. Now, I'm think of looking for something more reliable, I was thinking of an Audi TT. Does anyone know anything about these?
