educate me please.

I have a 90 S2. That has a huge problem. Let me describe. I can drive down the road fine everything is perfect.... Then The car loses power step on gas nothin happens then mash in cluch car dies. I try to restart and it will just spin over..I have replaced on relay that seemed to cure the problem so I dorve the car for about a week to test the new clutch. Well after a week of trouble free driveing it has started this again....when it dies.... I can tap on all the relays and wiggle them and the car will start right up and be fine. It could be fine for days.....or could be fine for minutes. The car on average will do this 4 times in a 20 minute trip. WHICH is a big aggravation especially setting in the middle of an interstate. COuld you all give me ideas as to why this is happening? I think it is fuel realated just for the fact the car would shut completely off if it were igniton related all at one time. I think it is fuel realated. Because Oh how the car looses power You can mash on the gas and here the engine pulling in air but it has no power does not react at all to throttle....almost as if the car is running on fumes or is getting very little gas. could some one give symptoms of a bad DME relay? or fuel injection relay? and also which auto parts stores could get the DME relay? I work at advance and it is not available thru there. thanks for any ideas!

While the car is running normally it idles just fine.....

My friend just experienced similar symptoms on his S2 Cab, and it turned out to be that the substrate in the catalytic converter came loose intermittently clogging the exhaust system.
If you hear any rattling under there I would check it out.........
