The Old Fiberglass question
Ok so the next big step in the 944 overhaul is to redo the body and paint. I am looking at getting some IFC side skirts and bumpers and GT-Racing hood and front bumper. However, I have heard very bad reviews about the GT-Racing stuff. Any input about the fit and finish of the IFC and Fiberwerks stuff? I realize that fiberglass takes some messing around with before it fits properly, but I do not want to have to fabricator parts and cut holes in the body just to fit a bumper. Basically I want stuff that looks good and won't take a week to install. Any suggestions?

Any input???? I know many people have posted on this topic before, however I have heard mixed opinions concerning IFC and GT-Racing. Is GT-Racing really that bad?

From what I understand, all fiberglass parts need to be worked by a body shop to be properly installed.
Why do you think that body kits on ricers look so bad? Home installations.

here is my result
I used a GT-Racing bumper and side-skirts, yes it took some work to fit but any fiberglass will take work to make it look good. Here is a link to some pics from when I was done. The nose is a Lindsey Racing part. Fresh paint pics-951

I worked with replacement panels made from fiberglass for a Fiat 124 when our family had our shop. It was a long time ago, they fit poorly and needed the hands of an experienced bodyman for perfect fit. It really all depends on how fussy you want to be. Most Porsche guy's want the car to be perfect, if you can seek some help from someone with experience.

They are GT-Racings "Boxed" side skirts I believe. If you are going to order them just ask them if they have a previous order for Dr. Safi in Oklahoma and that may help. I will tell you that the gentleman that put my side skirts on was basically a fiberglass and body "Master". It is VERY difficult to tell that they are not factory. I think they complete the look of the 944 body.

Also check out Rennspd for their fiberglass parts. Not an incredibly wide selection but I hear that the guy's stuff fits pretty well, and is decently priced.

E-mail him to find out for sure if it's bolt-on for the 944 N/A, or if it's a conversion. If so, it's worth it. I think the guy's in CA too.
