Unhappy No spark!!

Hey Guys, I am new here and new to 944's! Anyways, I recently purchased a non-running 951 and I am trying to fix it. All cylinders push 150-155 p.s.i., I have 12v to the injectors and 12v to the coil. The only thing it appears that I dont have is spark from the coil. Upon further investigation, I found that the wires for the TDC and the speed sensor are quite frayed on the side of the harness that goes to the computer. Because the wires are sheathed by braided metal which is somehow connected to the computer, I am not 100% sure that I can fix the wires... so my question is: can I purchase an MSD ignition and bypass the poor wire condition? Or should I try to find cables and new sensors all of the way from the brain?

BTW, the second to last owner who originally began having problems w/ the car said that it would drive perfectly, he would park, come back later, would not start and then it would run fine again.

Can't substitute any aftermarket ignition system for the sensors. You have to find a harness that has good wires and swap them out.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

Thanks for replying SoCal!
Yeah, I did some reading in my Bosch manual and online about Motronic and regardless, I need the speed sensor for injector and idle control stuff. Other than the junk yard, do you know where I might be able to attain the cables that go all of the way from the sensors and into the DME? I looked on Pelican Parts, and I do not see the items in their catalog. Thanks!

i think you would have to replace the whole engine harness to replace those wires. try automobile atlanta, they deal with porsche only and have both new and used parts. shop around though i paid too much for a couple of things early in my porsche days.
