door lock button stuck on lock
 

My 944 passenger door lock is stuck in the lock position. No amount of fiddling with the button or key will unlock the door. The key will activate the opposite door power lock but not the passenger door. I can't even get inside the door to look around since some of the door panel screws are blocked with the door closed. Any suggestions on what to do to?

Mine did this to me as well. I bit the bullet, cut open the door panel and monkeyed with the linkage to get the door open. Lots of fun... Then I picked up younger door handle, lock mechanism and linkage and rekeyed the lock cylinder.

No matter how much I scratched my head, I couldn't figure out a way to get the door open without cutting into it. This seems to be a hallmark of the breed, because our 931 has showed signs of going the same way. You could just adjust the linkage once you get into the door and save yourself having to replace lots of stuff, but once the rods start to get metal fatigue, there's not much to be done.

We couldn't get a slim jim into the door! And the nearest locksmith is two hours away... I wondered if the slim jim would work, because the issue was that the linkage wouldn't move at all. So I cut a neat little window and then picked up some very cool used Porsche script panels later on...

BTW, I refurbished my AFM as per the instructions on your website. The wear on the wiper track was considerable, a good indication of how many miles really are on my car. The job was easy but I found I ran into clearance troubles with the redundancy wire so I fiddled with the routing for it. Car seems smoother...and it was a fun evening's work. Now if only I could afford the rest of your goodies...

It seems that I'm having the same problem, same symptoms. Any fixes out there that don't involve buying a new door panel?

try taking out the seat on that side of the car and then see if you have enough room to get the panel off enough to get to the lock. That's about the only way I could think of doing it.

You could always cut through the metal on outside, wouldn't have to buy an interior panel that way. Maybe try taking the speaker out and going that route? Or maybe you could cut a small access panel into where the armrest is? When you put the armrest back on it would cover it at least.

I discovered the problem with my 944 jammed interior door lock button. The exterior door latch finger actuator was not returning to the fully retracted position under its own spring pressure after the door was opened from the outside. I found if I put a little hook behind the exterior latch lever and forced it to return the normal position the interior lock button could be pulled up to unlock the door. Extensive squirting of WD40 over a few days along with repeated actuation allowed the latch button to return to fully operational condition and all is well. I will now lube it periodically to avoid this condition in the future.

I lubed the hell out of everything from every access I could find...now my car smells like WD-40, but I can open the passenger door to air it out :)
