I finally got it out !!

I used a pair of 90 degree pliers, with two notches at the end (that i put in with a rotary tool, as read on another post).

The thermostat is 83 degrees celcius. Does this mean it should be fully open at this temperature? It doesnt fully open for me till around 95-100 celcius.

This may be the cause of my coolant system issues. Lets hope !

Yes, you should be able to throw it in a pot with a thermometer and boil. I believe 83 degrees is the temperature it should be fully open at and it should slowly creep open a few degrees lower than that.
