injector question

I finally found the problem of the crappy running 944: two faulty injectors. Hard to believe that it was even able to run on the other two alone. So my question: Can you clean these things? or is it just better to replace the bad ones with new ones? I think it's probably faulty economy to try and replace them with used injectors. Let me know what you think.

Check out if anyone in your area does fuel injectors; you may be able to get them rebuilt. I had one injector that didn't work and was told that it was due to corrosion; now it does. It cost $25 CDN to fix.

In some cases you can use a two foot section of hose clamped to the exit (spintal) end of the injector. Fill it with solvent and hit it with shop air (100 psi or better). This will back flush the injector blowing the crud out of the filter screen on the intake side.

Since injectors can not be taken apart there is no way to rebuild them. When you send them out the screens are removed, the injector tanked (usually ultrasonic) and then back flushed. New screens are installed. After this they are benched to determine their properties; inductance, timing and flow. When you get injectors back from this you may not be getting the ones you sent in.

If the screens are seriously crudded up you should consider flushing the entire fuel system including the fuel rail.

thanks guys. Since I already have $75 worth of credit with partsheaven, I decided to get rebuilt injectors from them.
Next question though: I'm building a turbo engine for another car (89' VW GTI 16v), and am wondering about how much power the 944 injectors are good for. The engine I'm building will be in the 200hp vicinity. there's a small chance I could use my 944 injectors on this project.

944 injectors should be able to handle 200hp, I wouldnt go much over that, if you do then use some 951 injectors
