water pump/timing belt

I was able to install a clutch in my 89 2.7 with help from you guys. I also had a hayse manual and help from clarks garage. I need to replace the water pump now. With all the vast knowlege I have found in here I realize i should change the belts and rollers to. I have found out there are some subtle differences in the 2.7 that The Hayse Manual and Clark's Garage have missed I think. Well actually just one. Fuel pressure on a 2.7. In changing the belts and rollers and water pump I found a kit with pump, thermostat, front seals.rollers, belts, seems like everthing to do the job for $525. This seem reasonable to ya'll. And If anyone knows something that the books don't say bout 2.7 I'd appreciate the input. As the clutch was a tedious job you really can't screw much up. But what I've read about the timing belts it can be queit costly if you screw up. the boot leg porsche manual don't really specify anythig specific for a 2.7 that I saw. After the 15 or so miles at well over the speed limit the lower water hose gave up. She's cooling good now, but the water pump seems to be making a whiring sound now. I'm thinking that can't be a good thing. So now momma's really gunna B****. One more thing. DO ya get to be a master technician when you've spent more for parts than you paid for the car? But I sure love driving it reckon I should slow down?

The job is the same for all the post '87 8 valve cars. Just be sure they give you the correct parts for your car. I believe the water pumps are different because you have the 3 litr block, but not sure what else may be. The seals, races and o-rings should all be the same. Here is a 99% complete list for the '87-'88 8 valve cars to use for comparison. We need more information before weighing in on the kit price. Some "complete" kits are more "complete" than others. AJ USA has the complete hose and clamp for a great price. Call Hennessey or Sunset Porsche for a comparison price. They surprise me sometimes with how competitive they are.

Master technician comes after restoring the entire car. Spending more on repairs than you paid for the car qualifies you as either a true enthusiast or economically insane. Driving them gives the enthusiast amnesia about economics! Actually, it is less expensive to keep one of these running than make payments on the latest accord/camry/boring sedan.
