Overhearing some conversation this weekend at an auto-x/DE a GT3 motor will bolt right in and you can strip out enough weight to get it in the 2400lb range. That would be killer.

I like it, has some Carrera GT style to it I think. I do think thought that porsche needs to continue with its numbered designation of cars. A 9 anything just derives so much attention from the world IMHO>

SCHWEEET,
I don't know about you guys, but it almost looks better from behind, which if I had one is all anyone would see.

I think it is very attractive. Its lines flow much better than the 996 or 997 except for the roof line which looks a little too domed.

"...expect a lighter, stripped-out Club Sport version, similar to what Porsche did with the front-engine 968 (944 replacement) during the early 90s."

reports in CAR and EVO give the Cayman S sparkling reviews, absolutely gushing. They claim a base model (Cayman) and a stripped out lightweight version (Cayman RS or CS) will follow.

I was hoping that would happen! (Both claims!)

Yeah, it kind of makes my heart beat a little faster, too... Porsche has really turned the styling of the new cars around, IMHO. The first Boxsters and 996s didn't do anything for me (esp. after the gorgeous 993), but the 997, Cayman, and CGT are wonderful-looking.

Z, check out the newest EVO. They have some great studio shots of the Cayman S. I think it looks best from the rear three-quarter view - it really brings out the fender flares.

If you ask me, the styling is a little reminiscent of the 904, aka "Carrera GTS", with subtle touches from the Boxster (obviously) and modern CGT, and even 944-series (check out that side window shape) and 928 (nice hatch!).

Whispers are saying "best-handling production Porsche yet." Can't wait to read a full road-test.

This car does look nice. The one thing I always didn't like about the 911 was the back seat--gettem out. Man o man I can't wait to see one in person.

When will Top Gear get ahold of one of these cars? I wouldn't mind seeing that in divx form, if you know what i mean.

Cayman S hits showrooms in October. Expect road tests in late Sept. American episodes of TOP GEAR are about a year behind the BBC broadcast, so our best bet might be to keep an eye open on the web.
