944 NA idle speed....what should it be?

I'm idling at 1200 RPM and it seems a little high......my 911 idled around 900 and my 914 idled around 850. If it is high, how can I lower it?

Thanks

1200 for a cold start is reasonable. Once at operating temp 850 and 900 both sound right

sounds like it may be an AFM going out - mine has idled high when the AFM was gone and when I replaced it, it was fine.

Check for a vacuum leak in the large rubber L hose between the throttle body and the AFS. Could be one of the vacuum lines that run off of it.

To adjust the idle of a late model 944 you have to short out term B to term C on the test plug then adjust the idle.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

if it idles at 1200, adjust the flat-head screw that sits below and to the left of the throttle cam assembly, on the throttle body. You just turn this screw until you get the desired idle.

If the idle goes back up to 1200 even after the adjustment, you have a vaccuum leak.

My car has a similar problem - low at idle at start and higher when hot.
Have you solved it?
I have checked about everything - my aux air valve does not close 100% when hot, could this be the problem?
