clutch issue, please help--another problem!!

So I just picked up another 951 an on the way home (my luck) the clutch went to the floor. I can tell their is still clutch life yet but when I go to press the pedal the spring activates an takes he to the floor, not slowly but, bam almost to the floor. I would say it was giving me about two inches to engage it, now about an inch. I believe this to be a linkage problem, no? I looked under an everything looked like it was fine, couldn't tell from the engine view. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, brian

Check you fluid level, might be low. or your clutch cylinders need to be replaced.

At the very least you need to bleed the system.

Thanks for your replys, off I go to check this out.

Okay, so I check the level an it is a touch below the min line, however still fluid in there, I'll top off to full line but this would point in the direction of the cylinders correct? Or could just a touch below the 'min' line have put air in?

I got a quote for 3.5 hours for the hose, master an slave to be done, is that accurate? I believe it is cause the guy who gave me the quote is the president of pca group around here. anywho, thanks again guys, I love how you guys will let us 'lesser knowers' pick your mind, wish I could repay the favor.

About right. Parts should be close to $180.

sounds right..
buddy of mine just replaced my master/slave... he has never worked on a porsche before, but had those out, new ones in, and bled in under 4 hours.... and that was with 2 beer breaks and a break for some well-deserved icecream on a hot day!

180 for parts sounds right too...

but bleed first.. if it works, great.. if not, replace.

good luck!

So now the car is stuck in reverse an the shifter is moving bout. what gives? I'm thinking the cyclinders have finally failed an the shifter linkage has a flaw now....man I swear if you took my blood pressure you'd think I was having a heart attack...breathe deep....

Brian - I feel for you - I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago - got stuck in 3rd - pulled it out and split it from the axle - couldnt find a thing wrong - then figured out it was that plastic sleeve that goes over the shift linkage where it goes thru the axle bell housing - put it back and then it started getting stuck in fourth, and then fifth. Pulled it out a 4th time to fix and ended up putting the original gearbox and carrier back on the axle - now all I have to worry about is double clutching into3rd - but it's going, again!
Hope you fix yours soon.
