its actually bolted onto the back of the alternator
If you remove the air box and the black cone thing on the back of the alternator, it is fairly easy to get to. Two bolts hold it in.

So my charging problem is not related to that either. If the alternator is tested good, what else could cause the problem?

Oh, I don't know... maybe it's the wires.
Or maybe it's the CONNECTOR AT THE BATTERY???

No! I don't. I need others to pay attention to what they are told. His other thead remarks about beat up battery terminals that are obviously not stock. You can't charge a battery if you can't get the juice to it.

Gee, lighten up a bit!!
Konan..Do you have any manual for the car? If not, at least get a Haynes!! Electrical systems on cars are highly prone to resistance type problems; dirty or corroded contacts, connectors and so on. The 944 electrical system is marginal at best and must be properly maintained to assure proper operation.

I figured out the problem. The alternator wasn't putting out voltage because the big cable that attaches at the bottom is shorted.I removed it and the alternator started putting out voltage.I ran a line over to the battery and it started charging. Now I must figure out where the cable should go.I have ordered a manual, but it will be a few days.Thanx for the help guys.
