Can't believe I got this much from a dealer...

I recently came to the conclusion that I needed to sell my 944. One day I was passing a dealer that I bought a few cars from and thought I'd stop in to see if he would be interested in buying it from me. He sells only high end and vitage cars. He took a look at the car and tried to tell me that the autos are much more desirable, I quickly disagreed. We went back and forth about little issues that he said could potentially cost him a lot of money to fix, so finally I said what willyou give me for it in its current condition. I couldn't believe that he offered me $4500. The car was in excellent shape is was an 87 NA with 110,000 miles and a fiberworks front spoiler. I really wanted $5k. I expected some rediculous low ball offer, but we came to a deal at $4750. If I would have sold it myself, I may have gotten a little more, but then again maybe not. I thought it was a great deal, no selling hassels, I went back the next day to get my check.

Out of curiosity next time you are in the area, see what they are selling it for. I wonder how much they are hoping to get for it on the lot.

I've seen na's in lots before with turbo prices. I think folks who have no idea about these cars (value) buy them cause of them name. Oh well....

There is an '86 NA auto in half ass shape that has about 80K on the clock at a small dealer around here that they are asking $7500 for. I thought it was funny.

Hmm. Who was this dealer?

That offer isn't too off-the-wall for these here parts. For some reason, the prices for 944s here in the Pittsburgh area are WAYYYY too much. I once was interested in an '88 N/A that was somewhat weathered and the old bag who owned it wanted "no less than $10K for it".

Yeah. Right.

The dealer is premium motorcars on rt 8. When I was looking a couple years ago, there was a girl from Irwin who wanted $8500 for an '83 with 120kmiles. I told her she was crazy, she said you don't understand this car has a performance chip and new springs.

Damn, if that's the case, I should sell my car for at LEAST $10,000

I called on one around Indy I saw listed in the paper here awhile back when I was looking, it turned out to be a dealer...

After asking a few questions, I found out it was a At. trans...
I said no thanks its a Auto...

His reply was, everyone wants this car in a auto...
I laughed and said NO ONE wants it in a auto, its a drivers car and people want the 5spd.

He then said, well, its a collectors car and people want them to just buy and store as an investment...

I laughed again and said, wrong again...

Oh well...

They started out at $6,995 and its now down to $3,995 for a 86...
I guess..."EVERYONE" doesn't want a Auto afterall...

Out here in Northern California these cars still command quite a bit. There is an S2 with 200K that a dealer wants 9K for, and a Turbo with 115K for the same(needs a clutch.

Deal of all deals was an 88 Turbo with a 160K at a Tow Yard(repo/salvage impound deal) and they were asking 2900....needless to say I was about the 100th person to call on the car when I saw the ad and it was long gone
