968 6 speed into s2...speedo?

i understand that the 968 used the abs to drive the speedo, and after reading and researching a few items, I am still wondering. I have abs in my s2(as all do) so i am thinking that this should just go straight in and not have any isue with the speedo. I read people saying that the signal is from the abs unit on the 968, but they are the same part s2 and 968.(according to pet) has anyone done a swap into a abs car?

The 968 gets signal from the ABS but the S2 gets its signal from the tranny. I'm not 100% how the 968 interprets the signal but you'd probably have to use a 968 ABS module and then rewire your dash to accept signal from the ABS unit rather than the tranny sender.

the abs module is the same unit on both according to the fiche(i also double checked my car and it matchs the 968 part).

so are you thinking that the speedo sender in the S2 transaxle is not used? what happens when you unplug the connector?

I'm thinking the signal from a front hub goes into the 968 DME...processed to look the same as the 944 cars and sent to the speedometer.

I did notice the S2 & 968 DME's had same p/n...do you know if the program chip in each the same too?

on the 968 DME, pin 6 (rotational speed) goes to the 14 pin connector (near DME) pin 2 green/black

while the 944S2 DME pin 6 (no name) goes to the 14 pin connector (near DME) pin 2 (green/black??)

on the 968 DME pin 2 (speedometer signal) goes to the 14 pin connector (near DME) pin 6 green/red

while the 944S2 has a DME pin 2 has no wire to the 14 pin connector (near DME) pin 6

hmmmm...need to study these prints some more

do you have a 968 transaxle ready to go?
