update to my update with pics

so...

my '88 turbo is ok. i think. already it is running better with a bunch of injector cleaner in it. the boost seems right, 1.6 bar in fourth, slight hesitation if i held it there. i think the mechanic i bought it from was right: it's old gas in there and the injectors need some cleaning. i am going to replace a bunch of hoses, as some of them have seen better days.

as for the metal shavings... i think it must be from other stuff that happened before. the shavings are definitely aluminum and i looked at the turbo blades myself and they are perfect.

i think if i run the tank out with the injector cleaner in it and put some good gas in, all will be well.

oh yeah: it is FAST!

on a side note: does anyone know what car had these wheels? and opinions are *mandatory* on the wheels, that is.

They were standard issue on the 964 and 993 carreras, non? Starting in 1989 and running till about 1996 or thereabouts.

I like em. Called "carrera cups" if i remember correctly.

it is my opinion that the shaving were from a previous issue. like i said, the turbo looks pristine and had absolutely no play in it.

... pull that intercooler and have it cleaned. You dont want more metal shavings coming loose.

Nice car by the way.

Pull the header panel in the front to gain access.

It would be ideal to have that thing cleaned in a tank....

but a pressure water hose, compressed air....... it may be enough.

FYI ......... they normally recommend replacing them when the compressor blows up.......

Nice car!
Just my opinion but I REALLY like those rims on a 944, I also DON'T like turbo twists on a 944 but again that's just my opinion. I just don't think they match the car well so don't flame me if you like them, to each there own.

The metal shavings thing had me worried too, glad to hear it wasn't anything serious.
