Bought a 944S for $1100

I just picked up another '87 944S for $1100. It is in really good condition too! 16" flat dish wheels, sport seats, 105k on the clock. I sold my other '87 S last fall and have missed it since. The PO was moving to Japan the next morning and had to sell quick. Documents with the car indicate he owned it since 8/93. The only catch is it has a dent on the header panel between the headlights. Paint and interior is good.
On my other S I replaced all belts, front seals, and tensioner pad right off the bat. I'm looking for opinions on the cam tensioner- replace just the pad, the tensioner & pad or use the tensioner rebuild kit. Oh, almost forgot- still has the original air compressor for the spare and the gloves!

Wow, that's awesome! If I came across a deal like that, I would also buy the car, even though I don't need one! Hell, I could buy one for $1100, replace/fix the dented panel, clean it up, and sell it for $3500+

Wow what a deal. The pad vs whole tensioner is a bit of a debate. I think it really comes down to how long you want to keep the car. If its going to be a short time do the pad. If you want to keep the car replace the tensioner, Jtube and chain, this will keep you worry free for a long time. Its not cheap but furthering CJ's comment, you could do all the maintenance and still not end up upside down.

For the dented panel see if you can find a vented 924 turbo panel.

Sport Seats! That is one hell of a deal. Congrats on the find. That 944 S is too good to be true.

If I had the garage space (or cheap storage), I would buy any worthwhile 944 or 924S for cheap that I could find, and then make a decision on whether to part out or fix up and sell that particular car.

Seems to me that there is a bit of money to be had there. Any CT area Pelicaners interested in starting a small business with me?

Heck, the cylinder head alone on that car goes for more than the purchase price! That really underlines the uneven market anomaly these cars truly are. Just doesn't make sense.

Ok here are some pictures... If I did it right. I've never posted pictures before. Forgive the current condition- I have not washed her yet. Dave L. - good idea about the 931 panel, those do look nice and mean.

As you can see it need a few odds and ends- two rear wheel caps- I have four someplace I just need to locate which box of parts they are in. Also the arm rest/storage- the whole dang lid is gone!

I wanna know too? What color is that? The blues and greens turn out wierd in a lot of pics of these cars and lighting since they are metalic.
