Vac lines

When taking the head off my car, I snapped off two of the plastic vac lines. Can I replace the vast majority of these old brittle things with rubber lines? Or do you think an autoparts store would have plastic line? TIA.

The majority of lines on my car are flexible, and vacuum line is vacuum line, as far as I can see. As long as it will stand up to the temp. The only hard plastic lines that I've got connect up to things (sensors, etc.) internally. In other words, I can't just pull off the old line and put on a new one. I'd have to replace the component, I think. If you're talking about the small lines to the fuel pressure regulator, etc. Auto part store vacuum line should be just what the doctor ordered.

I've found Jeg's sells a spool of 3mm silicone vacuum hose (if you can put up with the ricer colors - I chose blue as the least offensive) for cheap, and plenty enough to do a couple of cars. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?lang=-1&catalogId=10002&storeId=10001&categoryId=18839

OK. We found what we think may be a crack in one of the larger-diameter hoses. It's rubber, fits under the intake manifold, and is specially bent. I don't know what we'll do for that. I mainly meant the plastic line for the FPR, etc. If that's really available from an auto parts store, I think I'm set. Does the Y-fitting on that vacuum line pull out from the old line? I'd like to save and reuse that. The PET lists it as a separate part, but I can't figure out how to remove it.

That could be it. I think it connects under the oil filler neck. If it's $18, that's not bad at all. But I'm planning on getting it together for this weekend, I want to enjoy it a little this fall before I put it away. I don't really want to spend more than the part's worth to get it cross country for Thursday.

Lindsey racing sells black silicone vacuum lines for $1 a foot and metal "T" connectors for $2.50 each. A little more expensive than what you will find at the local auto parts store, but they will also seal better, last longer, and stand up to the heat better.
