944 Race Project Started
This is a bolt in cage... I was wondering if i should have it welded in anyways? any suggestions? I didnt finish the install because it got too late. But for the record when scraping sound deadening, dont use dry ice to try to freeze it so it comes off in sheets cause its just harder. My driver side had been soaking in yet carpet padding and it was as easy as pie to scrape the passenger side was dry and it was HARD AS HECK! and the ice made it harder.
Anyways heres the pics from the day: http://ccc944raceproject.blogspot.com/ |
That cage looks pretty cool, nicely done!

what brand of cage is that? I only have half of one bolted in because mine wants to go through the air vents and i'm not ready to cut up the dash quite yet. Although even with only the roll bar part bolted in I noticed a significant increase in stiffnes.

I have found acetone (sp?) and steel wool will get all the glue off after you scrape the thick putty and tar off. That way your paint will be baby butt smooth. Looks sweet mang, I currently and under the same process but oil in my coolant has halted it for a while. Are you taking all the putty out of the corners and seams? I probably have 40+ hours scraping and cleaning..lol On the bright side I removed 180 lbs including passenger seat. This was just weighing the waste and I will get a final corner weighting when I am done. I am curious about cage brand as well as that is the next purchase.
