Dash Clock Trim
 

I have everything apart to replace my dash digital clock except one piece. I have a 1986 944. On the far right of the dash trim strip I need to pull the air vent slide control knob through the horizontal vent fins. Is there a way to remove the knob or will the fins flex enough to allow me to gently force it through. I don't want to force it and end up with more broken pieces. Would appreciate someone's help.

The fins will flex enough, Just slide the knob to the middle first and BE CAREFUL.

If I recall right, you don't have to do any of that. Theres a screw on the side of the dash when you open the door... it stumped me until I almost broke the trim piece.

I changed my trim just before it went into storage. It should come out with very minimal effort. I dont know that its possible to remove the vent control knob just be careful

I remember the same as Izzy, you shouldn't be removing any of that to remove that trim piece. There is one screw in the middle and one next to the door. It's been a while, but at least that is how I remember.

True, it's only a few screws that hold it on but you do have to squeeze it past the slider knob to pull it off.
