Cold Start
Hi all folks .. when you try to start your Porsche ( 951 in my case ) did you depress the throttle pedal .?
Yesterday morning and today I have had to give 2 or 3 ( today ) attemptts to start it after a cold night ( cold here in Panama is about 20C - 70F ) the first time, it start but down after few seconds .. the second attemptts the same situation but more seconds at very low rpm .. finally the engine stop .. At 3rd attempt, the engine still running ( at low rpm ) but slowly goes up .. all with throttle pedal untouched.

it's been down to sub 10C here already in Toronto, and my car has started just as it would in 20 and 30 degree weather...
how many cold cranking amps in your battery? i bought a nice beefy 650A a couple months ago that seems to be doing the job nicely.

yes, quite the range here in southern ontario, from +35c/90% humidity, to something like -30c in winter! anyhoo, never had problems with cold starting, although the power steering does whine like a badly adjusted timing belt, for the first minute or so.
always make sure that your alternator is giving good output, and battery in great condition. i also go down to 5/30 grade oil. this helps. glad i dont live in alberta, where they get a real cold dose.!!!

the manual recommends not stepping on the gas pedal when starting.
