-what is the name of company?
-usually cost?
-what he will get with the cam?....hp?
-will somebody that alredy had the experience with a performance cam in his 944 na in this forum recommend or not?

Thanks I will appreciated a reply that can clear all my questions above!!!!!!!AGAIN I very sorry a kiss AlinaSmileWavy

JM enginering makes the best cames. They go for about $650 I believe. He claims 12-20 bhp depending on the cam used.

THANKS alot for reply but still need to understand

-hw it works ?I will be a good optin for owner of 944na
-will somebody that alredy had the experience with a performance cam in his 944 na in this forum recommend or not.
-there something else we have to add out of cam to get full performance?
Thanks again??I hope somebody can aswer it......

Throttle cam or actual cam?

Throttle cam doesn't actually add any power at all. Throttle cam just makes the throttle response linear instead of progressive. The stock throttle cam makes the throttle less sensitive just off idle.

Actual cams require you to pull the top of the engine and will change your powerband depending on the specific grind.

Dang cool down and take a deep breath:) .
ok
Probibly the best people to ask would be the people you may be buying the cam from. They would probibly have the best recomendations for installing the cam.;)

A MAF conversion would be the single best performance improvement on an NA, and will work well with a performance cam. A good header and freeflowing exhaust will also be a big help with a new cam. Fast924S knows his stuff, and has given you a link to a very reputable manufacturer. For a good description of how they work, and what they do, check http://auto.howstuffworks.com/camshaft.htm

WHAT IS A MAF conversion ? WHERE I GET IT HOW IT WORKS?THANKS

When you type in CAP'S, it looks as though you are YELLING at us. Just a little FYI.SmileWavy

Oh ya MAF conversion. Here ya go.

Mass Air Flow. It does away with the AFM (Air Flow Meter) that is a big restriction in the intake. FRWilks is supposed to be releasing a reasonably priced version. Either Wilks or Fast924S can give you a good description of how they work, at least I understood their descriptions in the past.

Interesting... Will that play nicely with a Wilks chip?

KY944S 11-22-2005 04:36 PM

Not sure on that one. But if FRWilk is making a MAF system of his own I don't see why not. You could e-mail him. Plus if you get the one from Promax it would cost $1098.19 (exchange rate) plus shipping.

fast924S 11-22-2005 05:24 PM

OKay this is a little complicated SO im gonna make it easy. MAF= mass air flow sensor. Basicly There is a LITTLE bare wire exposed to the air intake stream. Current is passed threw the wire and the wire is heated to a set temp. As more air flows over the wire the wire cools down and the DME has to put more current threw the wire to keep it at the set temp. So as more air passes over the wire more current is needed to keep the wire hot. The DME watches the current change and knows how much Fuel it needs to add. MORE CURRENT=MORE FUEL, LESS CURRENT=Less FUEL. If you want a more detailed discription you can to a search on the Forum or on the WEB

Most MAF conversions need a custom chip or signal/piggy back unit to make proper fuel corrections. The "simple" DME wont understand the MAF signal. FR-Wilks MAF kit is plug and play due to the fact that it has a build in signal converter so no addtional chip or piggy back unit is needed. My MAF setup is a little different it uses a piggy back unit to message the incoming MAF signal so I can alter the A/F ratio. The best Performance way to do it is make a MAF kit and have custom chips burned for the MAF. I believe guru Racing does that with there MAP conversions and may be able to help you with a MAF conversion.

Yes that MAF kit in the link will Work with the fr-wilk chip. But the FR-wilk MAF kit is cheaper in price and I would trust FR-wilks stuff over any other stuff.

THIS PROMAX SAID IS JUST PLUG AND GO DOSEN;T SAID ANY ABOUT THE PIGGY BACK CHIP?????SEEEMS LIKE ADEAL FOR ME HOW MANY HP YOU CAN GAIN?????NON TURBO CARS ?
AND THS WILK MAF KIT HOW MUCH COST IT IS READY TO GO??

Sorry about caps i had key board set in other language , any way!!
Can somebody let me know in other post about headers I call Jon Milledge he said that msds headers are worst than standar stock porsche headers I want to see If taht is real? If somebody else has msds headers in their 944???

Eldorado 11-22-2005 07:58 PM

Wilk's kit is not ready yet..

that kit that is linked up there ^^^ already has the "piggy back" device included...

"This provides an accurate air mass voltage signal to the SciVision processing computer which then relays a corrected AFM (Air Flow Meter) voltage signal to your car's ECU."

The stock headers and exhaust are very good, they're a very free-flowing design from the factory and it's difficult to improve upon them. I don't mean that they can't be improved upon, but there will be trade-offs.
