Hood insulation replacement
After 19-years of loyal and dedicated service, my hood insulation is in need of a replacement. Have any of you used dyno-mat instead of the direct replacement? I have heard that it is slightly heavier, but I could only imagine it keeps the noise considerably better and would last longer in the long run. Any thoughts?

I used a bubble type aluminum plastic insulating material. Installed 6 years ago. Still looks like new.
Do not try to get every last bit of the old stuff off. Cover both front fenders snd engine compartment with a tarp and just use a plastic scraper. Whatever adhesive they used is virtually permanent.

re insulation replacement
I read something about the insulation being a spark barier above the ditributor wires, if you replace it with some of the dynamat or other metalized material it might need a patch of electrically insulating material in that area?? using a tarp or an old sheet over the whole compartment and fenders is a great idea!

I just stripped mine off, and left it that way. Not all 944s came with the hood insulation.
A side benefit is that the hood stays up on its own much better now. |
