Door cards and door pockets
Okay - here's something that's been vexing me. I've bought some new black leatherette door cards and pockets to replace the nasty beige items currently in situ.
I just took off the old card pockets and the screws that came out were about M5 diameter steel self-tapping (I think you guys call them sheet steel ) screws about 20 mm long. Same as the ones on my old car. As with the last car there were what were originally three factory drilled holes in the area of the bottom of the pocket in the card. With what were obviously three holes made by someone screwing them back in the wrong place. Not wanting to make the same botch of it on my new cards I looked at the three holes drilled in the door steel section so I could measure where to be sure I had the screws in the right place. And I was surprised to see they were tiny holes and couldn't possibly accept those big self-tappers. So what I want to know is - anyone know what the proper size screw is for this? and ... How do all these oversize screws come to end up holding the door pocket? All the doors of both my Porsches have them (plus wrongly placed holes) They're all quality matched screws and have that same cadmium look about them that Porsche use for holding the interior door handle in place. If they aren't for the door pocket ... where have they been taken from within the car that could have gotten them mixed up? Also ... steel wire coat hangers - why do I only have one item of clothing that I would hang up yet thousands of wire coat hangers?
