Please help my 944 live again

Ok I have had endless problems with my porsches ignition system it seems. I first had a problem when the car died just before my first AutoX event

Ok so I thought I solved all my problems. But she died on me agian except this time she wont refire. I have a new igntion switch and relay. I even hooked up a jumper just to check the relay but no ignition. Not only does the car not start but the power windows wont work so I'm stuck with my windows down in winter... So any help would be aprpeciated, whats the best way of tracking my problem down.

Patrick

Check the terminals, and ALL wires at the + side of the battery. Sounds as if a few no longer make a good connection.

Patrick, what year? Throw it in your sig.

The fact your windows don't work tells me the problem is the power is not getting to any part of the vehicle not just the ignition. Trace the positive and negative leads of the battery to make sure all ends have solid clean connections and/or replace the battery cables. You can use a voltmeter to check the amount of volts you have at each connection. Does the starter turn over okay?

Starter turns over fine, relays and fuses are good, only thing that doesnt work the car not starting and the windows... everything else is fine. I have had problems with the terminals not making a good connection. But I just cleaned them up and no change. I should add that the car died while driving if this helps... Now I guess its time to invest in a voltmeter and use clarks stie and track this stuff down
O and its a '84

In your early 944....... as I recall you have the same switches as I had in my 924. LOUSY.

THere are tiny little ballbearings that are part of the contact. You can pull the switch and make sure you have power.....but I have a feeling its just the switch.

No start - check if you have spark and fuel. Let us know what you find.

Well I was using the voltmeter I found that I had almost 3 ohms when I had the key in the starting position... So luckily I have a spare switch and what do ya know we have IGNITION.

Thanks

Patrick
