now I understand the 951 itch.....

nice read about a 951 test drive on the open road

http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Pit/4786/tidbits/Teile_Talk_Turbo-S_Story.pdf

it just would be trouble for me here with my 55mph spped limit and $200 speeding ticket threat. Ill keep my N|A.

Fastest I've been been was 115 in a 944 NA. - Passenger seat. No track days here yet, and I don't do such things on public roads. Although My '86 was piloted by someone who won't get the keys again for some time to top of 3rd. ('89 box, whatever speed that is).

That was definately no ordinary 951, would be fun to be able to cruise like that. I can afford a 951, but want to wait until I'm older and have more driving experience. Doesn't matter how good of a driver I think I am, my hours behind the wheel will affect how well and quick I can think. Some may learn faster then others, I studied traffic and driving for years before I got my driver's licsence, so I'm a bit ahead of the curve, however, I'd hate to see a rare car go by by in my hands due to inexperience.

top of 3rd is like 80-90 i think. I've about hit it once or twice merging on the interstate.

Fantastic Story... I felt like I was doing the driving...
The parts that I could relate to... was walking up to the car and feeling its presence... If I walk up my car from the front I always run my finger tips over the front wheel arch.. and then whenever I walk away after a drive, I have to look back at least once.

Hrm, so in my car,I've got 5.446 in 3rd including final ratio, yours is 5.671. So that would be about 93MPH.

I've done right at 100 in the n/a.
I've done 140 in the 951, and it was pulling hard, I had to let off because the rate of acceleration was scaring me...

"We also had the pleasure of meeting the garage attendant Helmut Bleifuss".

Yeah, right.
Nice story, though.

Officially I've never done anything like that with mine...

Unofficially... Ditto.

Had a couple of close calls with the ticket patrol where luck saved me and I was down to normal speeds when they got me on radar though so I play things a wee bit safer now on public roads.
