Question Heater and AC controls??????

Hello, well we have been coming along nicely on my son's car. (1978 Porsche 924). Under hood totally rewired. Fuse/relay board moved to be behind the drivers seat. (so you can see the idiotic thing)

Rear seat removed to make a 2 seater like the Corvette and for the stereo system.

Interior instrument lights rewired, now I am at the console.

My question today is ------ the car originally had A/C which we removed because who ever had the car before removed all air conditioning components from under the hood.

Does the A/C switch with 1,2,3,4, need to be wired to the
3 heater levers or can the whole switch be bypassed?

I have the schematics, just need advise. What is the top slide lever do with the slide contact?

I hope I explained what I mean. Thanks,

The smaller switch is for your defroster and heat controls, its right next to the sliders which control the vent direction, you do want that switch to work if you bypass it your defroster and heat will not work. the large switch in the middle controls the a\c blower which you do not need.

Would you please post a pic of the fuse box relocation, excelent idea!

Thanks for your reply. On the 1978 Model the A/C switch installed in the dash above the console. It has 1,2,3,4, and a slide lever which says "cooler". On the console, just below the guages is a Rocker switch, cigarette lighter, and light for safety belt and brake. What is the ROCKER switch for? The 3 heater levers are just under this. Is the rocker switch the heater fan switch?

the heater\ventilation fan switch is right below the fog light rocker to the left of the slide controls

Thank you for all your replies. On this model on the console just below the rocker switch, cig. lighter, an seatbelt light, is just the slide controls.

The top slide has a picture of a fan on the right side. Also, with the unit removed there is a contact on the slide. On the back there is also to spade connectors. I think on one there is suppose to be 2 grounds.

The 2nd (middle) lever has a green symbol on the left and red on the right. (cool to hot I assume)

The 3rd (bottom) on the left has a little down arrow and moved clear to the right has a up arrow. I figure up defrost and down floor.

After your replies I think that the top slide on this car is the fan control.

Also, with the relays/fuse board moved behind the drivers seat, I have bought a center console from ebay for a Mazda that I am planning on putting them in. When finish (which will be awhile) I will post pictures if you are interested.

Thank you, again. Your help and time is appreciated.
