paul: this is the site of our host where all the rollers, tensioners and the front end reseal kit is given: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/944M/POR_944M_ENGman_pg4.htm#item20
I found that our cars use a different oil pump oil seal than supplied in Pelican's reseal kit and had to order it from the deales in Jhb.

Comes from owning the same 83 944 for over tweny years. Daily driver. Have to learn or you walk. Now I need to get one each of the other models and drive them for tweny years each.

As to timing belts; I've gone through five. Two of which broke. Don't ask.

I did re-learn something about the 944's today. The radiator in the later 944's sit's about three inches lower than the ones in the early 944's. Four different hoses between the water pump and the radiator. Only one works on the early chassis.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

something interesting i learned about the EARLY early 944's in regards to the rad hoses...

they changed the design in feb or march of the upper rad hose in 83.. i dont know why, but i'm glad i have the later 83 because the other one was tres expensive! (at least it was before "the new pelican".. i haven't checked it since )
