Over $100 difference! Different part numbers. Could be different bolt up, current draw, etc. My advice, get the one that you're supposed to have on your year engine.

Good advise. I have an 86n/a and an 84 starter in the basement. Would still like to know what the difference is.

the early starters are alot bigger and heavier. there is a reduction gear or sumthin like that in the late ones. they WILL swap out just fine though. you will have to leave a heat shield off of the 951's to use the early starter, but it WILL work, i have swapped them every way possible :^)
