Maintenance Input From the Group
I have a 1986 Porsche 944 with 73,500 miles on it. It has been passed through the family so I have almost all of the maintenance records. It was meticously maintained, but I am trying to figure out what needs to be done now w/out taking it to the dealer. Here are the highlights:
45,107mi - All Belts, Distributor/rotor, Brake Pads 48,324mi - Upgrade to Turbo Motor Mounts 53,074mi - DME control Relay, Thermostat 65,216mi - CV Boots and grease, last coolant flush, last fuel filter (This was in 2001) From 65,216mi till 73,000mi just oil changes, then I got the car. Potential List (please add your input): 1. Belts and Rollers 2. Brake Pads 3. Fuel Filter 4. Coolant Flush 5. ? Thanks for the help, Bob |
Definately the timing belt and related items. Might look hard at the water pump. If you can wiggle the water pump roller with the timing belt off it should be replaced. Some will just replace it anyway at about your milage.
Time to inspect and repack the wheel bearings. Check the suspension bushings and ball joints. Then the rest of your list. How are the tires? |
plugs & wires
|
The tires are new. Plugs I got. Didn't think of wires, brand preference? Didn't think of wheel bearings, grease preference?
Keep it coming, I am going to keep this car running. Our 1968 912 is at 229,000mi. Thanks, Bob |
It sounds just like the car I got last fall. There is a good maintenance list and lots of other info on clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/maint.
From my to do list I would add brake and transmission fluid change. |
