Cooling fan relay on order, possible to jumper circuit temporarily?
Anyone know how I can throw in a jumper wire to allow the cooling fans to work. I just recently ordered a new relay since I had the original 1983 part # in the car but want to drive it to get it inspected till the new part comes in. I also want to test operation of the radiator fans to rule out anything else.

Do the fans work? Did you try by-passing the thermal switch on the radiator as that's the most normal problem item.

Switch is under the front bracket to the air filter and the top radiator hose. I usually reach up from under the car with a long screwdriver and short across the terminals. Might have to force back a rubber cover. One or both fans may run depending on how the A/C relay was set up.
In most cases you can turn the key on and the A/C on and both fans will run.

Even without the fan relay in place?

Relay has to be in place. Other wise a single fan will run on slow speed. To test the fans indepently you will need to provide 12 volt DC power directly to them. Better to take them off the car.

A lady had her car TOWED in today with an overheating problem. Bad coolant temperature switch. Unplugged the A/C compressor clutch and told her to drive with the A/C "on" until she could get it to a shop for proper repairs. I work in a parts store, not a garage. It's amazing that more people don't know that you actually buy parts at a parts store and actually get your car repaired at a garage. That's what I get for working in a town with such a low tooth-per-head count!!
