bought my 944S2 last Jan and after 5 weeks it started running rough. which after investigation turned into a total engine re-build.

cars now running like new (well it is really) Jan comes around again and its just starting creaking when the steering wheels
turned to full lock..

Could be your PAS hydraulic fluid is low. As I recall (long time since I did it) you check the level on the dipstick when on full lock with the engine running, as this puts the maximum load on the system.

Topping up fixed this problem for me (caused by a slight weep at the reservoir pipe).

mine did this in the cold until i finally fixed the ps leak, which happened to exist because one of the non-pressure hoses had dry-rotted. you could rip it with your fingers it was so bad. replaced the hose, bled the system, no more leak, no more groan.

bleed it and make sure you don't have any leaks i guess
